Bhatkal: Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police Deepan M. N. inspected the site of the fatal road accident at Basti–Kaikini Panchayat Cross on National Highway 66 in Murdeshwar and reviewed traffic movement and existing safety arrangements.
The SP examined the accident spot and directed officials to strengthen traffic management and implement measures to prevent similar accidents. He also stressed the need for better coordination among the concerned agencies to enhance road safety.
The inspection followed a fatal crash in which a truck allegedly rear-ended a motorcycle at the junction, killing the rider on the spot. The incident triggered protests by local residents, who delayed the removal of the victim's body and alleged that the ongoing NH-66 four-laning works had created unsafe road conditions. They demanded immediate corrective measures to improve safety at the junction.
