Elderly man falls from moving train near Bhatkal, dies

Bhatkal: A 70-year-old man died after reportedly falling from a moving train near Shirali Chitrapur railway station in Uttara Kannada district while travelling to Mangaluru for medical treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Babu Pandurang Padti, a resident near Amadalli Toll Naka in Karwar taluk.

According to police sources, Padti was travelling with his son Akshay Padti from Karwar to Mangaluru on the Matsyagandha Express to seek treatment at Father Muller Medical College Hospital.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 4:30 a.m. when the train was nearing Shirali Chitrapur railway station. Padti had gone to the washroom, and while washing his hands near the coach door, the door allegedly opened accidentally, causing him to lose balance and fall from the moving train.
He suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.

Based on a complaint filed by his son Akshay Padti, police at the Murdeshwar Police Station have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
