Bhatkal: Woman fined Rs 25,000 for allowing minor to ride two-wheeler

Bhatkal: A court in Bhatkal has imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on a woman for allowing a minor boy to ride her two-wheeler, in what is said to be the third such case registered by Murdeshwar Police.

According to police, Seema Akhtar, a resident of National Colony, had permitted a minor to operate her vehicle. Following an investigation, Murdeshwar Police filed charges against the vehicle owner under Sections 5 and 199(A) of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The Senior Civil Court in Bhatkal found the vehicle owner liable and imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on June 2.

Police have urged parents and vehicle owners not to allow minors to drive, warning that violations would attract strict legal action.
