Bhatkal: The body of a fisherman who had gone missing after venturing into the sea for fishing from Mavinakurva bunder in Bhatkal was found on Saturday morning near Kiru Manjeshwar beach in Byndoor taluk of Udupi district.
The deceased has been identified as Manjunath Satu Gowda (51), a resident of Idgunji in Honnavar taluk. According to police, Manjunath had left for fishing on August 26 aboard the Sri Sagar Parsian boat from Mavinakurva port in Bhatkal but failed to return, prompting his family to lodge a missing person complaint at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station.
On August 30, early in the morning, his body was discovered washed ashore at Kiru Manjeshwar village, under Byndoor Police Station limits.
Byndoor Police have registered a case in connection with the incident. They informed that the body was sent for a post-mortem at Byndoor Government Hospital and later handed over to the family.
