Bhatkal: Two arrested for temple hundi theft in Heble

Bhatkal: Bhatkal Rural Police have arrested two persons in connection with a theft that took place at the Shri Arikal Jatakeshwara Temple in Heble village on the night of September 14.

According to police, the accused allegedly broke open the temple hundi (donation box) and stole the cash kept inside. A case (Crime No. 125/2025) had been registered at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station under sections 500, 331(4), and 305(2) of the BNS Act.

The arrested have been identified as Ameer, son of Hasan Byari, a resident of Shirali, and Mohammad Imran, son of Abdul Gaffar, a resident of Bhatkal. Both have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

Police said property worth ₹2,21,295, including two motorcycles used in the crime, has been recovered from the accused.
