Karwar: Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police Deepan M.N. has announced stringent measures to curb illegal lottery operations, matka gambling, and betting activities across the district.
Speaking at the first quarterly meeting of the 2025–26 District Anti-Lottery and Matka Control Flying Squad, held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday, SP Deepan said that during the current quarter, police registered 86 matka cases and booked 101 accused. He emphasised that all members of the Flying Squad must take necessary steps to make the district completely free from illegal lottery and matka operations.
He assured that the police department would adopt the strictest enforcement strategies to bring these unlawful activities under control.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajid Ahmad Mulla, Additional Superintendent of Police Krishnamurthy, Commercial Tax Officer Shanmugappa Naregal, Flying Squad convener and Assistant Director of the Pension Department Ganesh Patgar, Development Officer Kasim saab Mulla, Sholin D’Costa, and other officials.
