Karwar: Members of Hindu Jan Jagarti Samiti submitted a memorandum to district administration in Karwar, on Wednesday, calling for steps to ensure that the National Flag was not insulted on Independence Day through use of paper and plastic flags.

The members stated that the flags are thrown everywhere including roads and drainages after using them on August 15 and hence should be prevented.

The Hindu Jan Jagrati Samiti has undertaken several initiatives and programmes to generate respect for the country. The government too should take steps in this regard and distribute pamphlets, handbills, and use advertisements to create awareness among the people.They requested that the State government should form committee as instructed by the High court at the earliest, and should ensure that those disrespecting the flag are punished severely.

Vishwa Hindu Parishat district unit President BG Mohan, Girish Kudalkar, Prashant Padnekar, VR Kalli, and otters were present.
