Karwar hosts 79th Independence Day celebration; Minister Mankal Vaidya highlights sacrifices of freedom fighters

Karwar: The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor across all taluks and villages of Uttara Kannada district, with the main district-level event held at the Police Parade Ground in Karwar on Friday. Fisheries, Ports, Inland Water Transport, and District In-charge Minister Mankal S. Vaidya hoisted the national flag and addressed the gathering.

In his speech, the minister recalled the sacrifices of countless freedom fighters who laid down their lives to liberate the nation from British rule. “The peace and freedom we enjoy today are the result of the supreme sacrifices of many great leaders. Bravehearts such as Rani Chennamma of Kittur and Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi fought valiantly against the British and attained martyrdom. Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of non-violence and non-cooperation became a guiding force for the world,” he said.
