Karwar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) have issued a warning of strong winds likely to affect the coastal taluks of Uttara Kannada district between July 14 and 16.
According to the forecast, wind speeds are expected to range between 40–50 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph. In view of this, authorities have advised small and medium-sized boats to avoid venturing into the sea, as fishing activities are already prohibited during the monsoon season.
The public and fishermen have also been urged not to visit the seashores or approach riverbanks or enter other water bodies during this period. Tourists and locals are strictly advised against engaging in recreational activities at the beach, and parents are requested to keep children away from the coastline.
