Bhatkal: A fisherman lost his life after a fishing boat capsized in the Arabian Sea near Belke, Mogerkeri, on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Madhev Goida Moger (56). He had ventured into the sea for fishing when the mishap occurred. Reports suggest that the fishing net, along with the boat, washed ashore following the incident.

Upon receiving information, Renukaswamy, Assistant Director of the Fisheries Department, visited the spot and conducted an inspection.

The body of the deceased was shifted to Bhatkal Government Hospital for postmortem.

A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station, and investigations are underway.
