Airlines have no authority to impose flying ban on anybody, including parliamentarians, and the law of the land should take its course, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said on Thursday.
The remarks came after SP member Naresh Agrawal raised the issue of recent flying ban imposed by major domestic airlines, including state-owned Air India.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati's resignation from the Rajya Sabha was accepted on Thursday by chairman Hamid Ansari, a senior official of the Upper House said.
The 61-year-old had submitted a fresh resignation letter as per the prescribed format, tendering a hand-written one-line letter, he said, wishing not to be named as he was not authorised to comment.

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said that as many as 11,400 farmers committed suicide in 2016.

In the first two months of the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, 803 incidents of rape and 729 of murder were reported, the state Assembly was informed today.

Fifteen passengers were killed and nine injured as a bus rolled into a 700-metre deep gorge in Rampur area of Shimla on the Hindustan-Tibet National Highway, about 140 km from here, today.
The bus carrying about 40 persons was on its way from Reckong Peo in Kinnaur to Nauni in Solan. According to police, the toll is expected to rise.
