Bhatkal: In a bid to strengthen police-public relations and to ensure proactive grievance redressal, the Bhatkal Rural Police on Monday launched a novel initiative titled "Police at Your Doorstep" in Shirali village, under the jurisdiction of Bhatkal Rural Police Station.
The programme was officially flagged off by Tahsildar Nagendra Kolashetti, who raised the green flag in front of the Shirali Gram Panchayat office.
Speaking on the occasion, the Tahsildar emphasized the importance of the police department in maintaining peace and order in society. “To address your grievances, police personnel will now reach your doorstep. It is important for citizens to extend cooperation, share information, and provide documents when requested. This will also help in timely response during any incidents and will foster a peaceful environment in the community,” he stated.
Bhatkal Rural CPI Manjunath A. Lingareddy also addressed the gathering and alerted villagers about the rising incidents of thefts during the night. He advised residents not to keep valuables such as gold and cash at home, and instead, store them in bank lockers. He also urged people to inform police or their neighbors while leaving town and to immediately report any suspicious persons or unknown vehicles in the area to the Bhatkal Rural Police Station.
The event was attended by PSI Rangouda, PSI Bharamappa Belagali, and other officials.
