Karwar: World Biofuel day was organised by Uttara Kannada Science Center in collaboration with the Biofuel center at Swami Vivekananada High School at Kodibagh on August 10.
DFO of Forest Department K D Naik inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling. Speaking at the event, he said: " Thee world is running out of fuel to meet the needs of a rapidly growing population. The earth will get exhausted of the fuels like diesel in the nearby future. In order to preserve the fuels for the future generations, we should grow more and more trees," he explained.
In his presidential speech, Arvind Tendulkar also expressed his views. Chief Guest, Manjunath Pawar, member of District Science Center explained about the importance of biofuel and the activities undertaken by the Science Center.
Headmaster of Swami Vivekananada High School, Prajakt Mahikar welcomed the gathering. Teacher Vikranth Tandel compered the programme whereas Maya Kinekar delivered her vote of thanks.
