Mangaluru: The Congress activists took out a rally from Clock Tower Circle to Hamilton Circle to protest against Dalit atroticities in Mangaluru on Monday.

Motamma, MLC, and a few other Congress leaders took part in a rally. The protest was held under the banner of Dakshina Kannada Pradesh Congress Committee. J.R. Lobo, MLA, and Ivan D’Souza, MLC, were among the other Congress members who took part in the protest.

Ms. Motamma speaking at a protest said members of groups such as Bajrang Dal and Hindu Jagran Vedike were continuing with their attacks on Dalits in Karnataka and other parts of the country. She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take action to help Dalits solve their economic and social troubles. Although she complimented Modi for his recent outbursts over the issue. 

All India Congress Committee member P.V. Mohan said Mr. Modi was speaking against attacks on Dalits to get more votes in the forthcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. “It is no surprise to hear the PM speak against attacks on Dalits. He is aware that they form a big vote base,” he said.
