India unveiled a new scheme called "Agnipath" on Tuesday for the recruitment of soldiers in the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, largely on a short-term contractual basis, with an aim to cut the ballooning salary and pensions bill.

Maharashtra on Tuesday reported two more cases of the BA.5 variant of coronavirus, the state health department said.
Both the patients, found in Thane city, had been vaccinated.

The Monsoon session of Parliament is likely to commence from July 18, the day presidential poll will be held, and could conclude on August 12.
Besides the presidential poll, the election for vice-president's post, will also be held during the session.
