Former Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary Parameswaran Iyer, who spearheaded the Swachh Bharat Mission, was on Friday appointed as the CEO of Niti Aayog, according to a government order.
He will replace Amitabh Kant, who will demit office on June 30.
Iyer has been appointed for two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the personnel ministry order stated.

The Coast Guard is using six vessels and two aircraft in its effort to check marine pollution in case of an oil spill from the submerged foreign vessel, MV Princess Miral.
Karnataka Coast Guard commander and Deputy Inspector-General S B Venkatesh said in a release here that six vessels and two Dornier aircraft are being used for monitoring, mapping and combating oil spill in the area.

The merchant vessel Princess Miral, which ran aground off Ullal near here is now submerged by 70 percent and is facing the threat of sinking completely as the sea is rough with high waves, official sources said.
The ship agency owning the vessel is exploring ways to prevent the ship from sinking. The ship’s owner is holding talks with the representative of Marcan shipping agency based here.
