Bhatkal: The Manipal College of Dental Sciences (MCODS) is empanelled by the Department of Health and Family Welfare as one of the centres for Danta Bhagya scheme.

In a press conference Anil Jacob, Assistant Manager of MCODS, said that the beneficiaries of the scheme were senior citizens with below the poverty line (BPL) card, and those who were aged 60 and above.

The MCODS would cater to patients from Udupi district and from Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar and Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district. The treatment and dentures come completely for free.

Under this scheme, patients who have lost all the teeth can get complete dentures. Sometimes patients may require minor procedures or even extractions of few remaining teeth, indicated as treatment plan.
