Bhatkal: The body of the fisherman who has drowned off the Bhatkal coast in the Arabian Sea was found on Trasi beach today.
On August 3, the boat carrying 8 fisherman capsized in the sea. The other seven swam to safety for 9 hours straight and were rescued by a boat. However, one fisherman, Manjunath Kharvi(45), had drowned in the sea.
The Coast Guard searched the body of the missing fisherman through helicopters and ships but couldn't find it anywhere.
His body was found at Trasi beach, 40 kms away from Bhatkal, on Tuesday, 9th August.
As soon as the news reached, MH Ibrahim Gangulli's ambulance helpline service reached with his team. The body was in a very mutilated condition and was identified by his relatives from the clothes he had worn.
The body was shifted to Kundapur government hospital for post mortem and was later handed over to the relatives at Bhatkal. A gloomy atmosphere prevailed and a huge crowd of people gathered in front of his house.
It is learnt that Manjunath belongs to a poor family and is survived by his parents, wife and two kids.
